Mapping Place
Fibre and Form
with Alice Fox

Register your interest in this new course, coming in 2026:

Join artist Alice Fox to rediscover what’s possible when you make from where you stand.

In this new Take Two course, Alice Fox invites you into a way of working that begins with noticing what is local to you, whether that’s your garden, your street, your kitchen, or your home, approaching making as a form of alternative mapping.

Rather than focusing on a single technique or outcome, the course unfolds as a progression from 2D mark-making into 3D structure. Working with paper, plants, found objects, cordage, and simple weaving systems, you’ll explore botanical contact printing, ink made from local and kitchen materials, rust printing, and stitching into leaves and found matter, before transforming paper, cloth, and plant fibres into woven form.

More details about the full curriculum will be shared soon. In the meantime, we invite you to explore Alice’s artwork below, or watch her Friday Feature Artist conversation for insight into her practice and approach.

My interest in landscape and sustainability underpins the way I work as an artist, always striving to make my practice as sustainable as possible. This drives me to use materials, found objects and natural colour that I gather wherever I am working.

 - Alice Fox

Alice Fox is a West Yorkshire–based artist whose practice is rooted in sustainability and a deep attentiveness to place. With a background in nature conservation, she works almost entirely with locally sourced and home-grown materials; flax, nettle, daffodil leaves, blackthorn, sycamore keys, even mud - transforming “humble” matter into evocative records of the landscapes she knows and loves.

Her allotment is central to her process, providing fibres, colour and countless seasonal cues; her techniques span stitch, basketry, improvised looms, cordage and botanical inks. Alice teaches generously and practically, helping students work with what they have, where they are - no fancy kit required.

Teaching online lets her gather a global table of makers, each discovering new ways to see, collect and create from their own surroundings. We are honoured to collaborate Alice and bring you her first Take Two signature online course.
