Explore fibre in three dimensions with internationally-acclaimed artist Tina Marais.
What Tina's students say:
Thank you Tina Marais for sharing your artistic voice. Your sensitivity to materials, fibres and objects is clear. Your approach and openess on your practice really spoke to me at a time when I felt open and ready to listen.
This course is perfect for me who has long experience with textiles and wants a new approach. Good explanations and comprehensive instructions.
When I saw Tina Marais was teaching this course I was all in. Tina is very generous sharing the combination of conceptual ideas and techniques in this course.
This is such an interesting, generous and inspiring course and with endless possibilities, no matter what discipline you practice.
Tina’s course has my brain already exploding !! I’ve always avoided online courses, as I prefer the human element when learning. However, this course with Fibre Art Take Two is my first ever and I’m completely and beyond impressed. Absolutely loving it!
Fibre has always been with us - clothing our bodies, carrying our stories, and connecting cultures.
But what if cloth could do more? What if it could hold memory, movement, and meaning, becoming art that speaks in three dimensions?
Under the guidance of internationally acclaimed artist Tina Marais, it’s easier than you might think. In Soft Revolution, Tina shares the exact methods and techniques that took her from kitchen-table explorations to international exhibitions.
In just weeks, you’ll learn how to transform everyday materials into sculptural works that resonate far beyond the surface.
Expand what’s possible with fibre as fine art. With Tina Marais as your guide, you’ll:
Transform the everyday.
Use ordinary fabrics and found objects to create artworks that carry memory, movement, and meaning.
Join a global community. Connect with like-minded artists, and show your work in a curated online exhibition.
Balance making with thinking. Deepen your conceptual understanding alongside practical skills to refine your artistic voice.
Master rarely-taught processes. Explore a contemporary approach to armature building, binding, wrapping, appliqué and Canadian smocking.
Go from sketch to sculpture with confidence. Follow Tina’s intuitive approach to pattern drafting and form-making.
Turn stitches into sculpture. Learn how to move beyond surface decoration and create dimensional forms that feel alive.
From birth to death, we are covered in textiles. They comfort us, protect us, carry our memories. My work is about honouring that – transforming cloth into sculptural forms that hold presence, movement and story.
- Tina Marais
Tina's sculptures have been exhibited across Canada, France, China and beyond, and she is deeply committed to showcasing fibre as a contemporary art form. Her projects have connected communities, challenged perceptions of fibre art, and helped reposition textiles as fine art of global relevance.
As a teacher, Tina is extremely generous, practical and deeply philosophical. She shows you every step – but also invites you to think about why you are making, and how to find your own voice through fibre.
