Letters are my friends - Denise Lach

In this Take Two short documentary, Denise reflects on the years of practice that taught her to truly see – and how learning the rules is what eventually allows freedom, gesture, and emotion to emerge.

Letters are my friends - Denise Lach

Calligraphy didn’t come into Denise Lach’s life by choice – it chose her. From childhood drawings in her father’s pastry workshop to a lifelong devotion to letters, Denise’s practice has always been shaped by discipline, patience, and play.

This documentary honours the quiet lineage between Denise Lach and Claire Benn, and the deep trust that allows creative work to be carried forward with integrity. From this relationship, TEXTure emerged – an online course that continues Denise’s teaching, shaped and honoured through Claire’s own voice and practice.
