Connections.
Student exhibition: Sensing Place with Debbie Lyddon "I have just finished reading through your exhibition submissions and I have greatly...
"This exhibition presents works that respond to encounters with the environment using the senses of sight, sound, and touch.
At the end of the Sensing Place workshop, I gave an equation for creativity – Knowledge + Experience + Making connections = Creative thinking. The works in the ‘Findings’ exhibition are a result of your ability to embrace new ideas, techniques and materials, to play and to experiment, to try, and to try again if the first attempt wasn’t right.
You have thought, researched and made connections between process, technique and materials to make something personal and new that doesn’t just imitate your experiences, but that is the expression of your imaginative creativity - your own ‘inner seeing’.
These thoughtful, insightful and inspiring works are the result of your own artistic investigations, and I am struck by how much you have all learned from your forays outside into your chosen environment and how you have thought hard to capture the essence of place using the senses of sight, sound and touch. Each of your creations is personal, unique and extraordinary."
