"A walk in nature walks the soul back home." – Mary Davis
When we look to nature for inspiration, it is not only available in abundance but also presents us with the opportunity to explore through our own lens. Joyful Embroidery encourages creatives to embrace their own unique approach to stitch, which involves taking time to explore both our outer and inner worlds to identify what truly inspires their mind, heart, and hands to create.
This makes our theme for this year's exhibition intentionally broad and multifaceted, as the interpretation relies on the lens of the individual creative and how they chose to respond.
And what a response! I am completely in awe of the diverse range of artworks on show here and the heartfelt interpretations of ‘Nature's Textures’, from the outer world observation of intricate elements of flora to the inner reflections of memory and sense of place.
We invite you to take a slow and wandering walk through this exceptional collection of works. Linger, notice the details, expression, skill and persistence of this group of creatives who have transformed one of the most laborious art forms into joyful storytelling to share their creative souls with you.
