Mystery, Mastery & Discovery

Through research, documentation, and layered gel plate processes, these works explore inspiration drawn from artists past and present. Each piece reflects curiosity, technical growth, and a thoughtful pursuit of mystery, skill, and personal discovery.

Mystery, Mastery & Discovery

Student exhibition: Art & Design with Tara Axford

"Welcome to 'Mystery, Mastery & Discovery' – an exhibition that invites you to explore these pages through the eyes of our Art & Design students. We've cast a spotlight on artists, both from the past and the present, and harnessed those inspirations to create personal pieces using the versatile gel plate as our primary tool. I’ve always loved visiting art galleries.

There is something about the promise of possibility that lies amongst its walls. The discovery of what it is that other artists have explored and what might inspire me. It's with immense excitement that I present the work of this talented group, who unearthed, recorded, extracted and channeled their discoveries into individual, thoughtful, and purposeful creations.

During the course I loved viewing the documentation, research and explorations being shared so generously in the Facebook group which was like meeting up in a student study room, a place where we could all excitedly discuss the purposeful paths we had explored.

As I flip through this virtual gallery, I'm not only amazed by the art on display but also filled with gratitude for the possibilities uncovered, the mysteries unraveled, and the mastery achieved. This exhibition stands as a reflection of the talent, dedication, and spirit of inquiry that defines our student community.

I hope you enjoy the journey of 'Mystery, Mastery & Discovery' as much as I have."
