Embrace the Journey - 2024 Student Exhibition
“Awareness. The ability to look deeply is the root of creativity. To see past the ordinary and mundane and get to what may otherwise be invisible. Awareness is not a state of force. There’s a little effort, though persistence is key. It’s something you allow to happen.”
- The Creative Act: A Way of Being Rick Rubin
Capturing Moments
To be in that state of awareness, sensitivity, allows the perception of the moment to occur. Everything happens in the moment. Art making can start with a plan but as it progresses, as self-consciousness ebbs away, the moments are where making happens.
Capturing those elusive moments is at the germ of art making. Of becoming an artist. Of embracing the journey. It’s a way of moving through your life.
Participants have investigated and explored the precipices of a new genre. They have made the leap from traditional photography into mixed media photography that embraces all sorts of materials. Experimentation is key.
Printing on mixed media substrates can be challenging but deeply satisfying as the results of our image making and our substrate creations combine to create profoundly personal art making.
